I’m Kira, I’m 20, and my pronouns are they / them. I joined our party five years ago, in Somerset, because I experienced firsthand the combined impact of austerity with poor workers’ rights can have on families like mine.
As an ex Co-Chair of a university Labour Club, and now Co-Chair of LGBT+ Labour for London and the South East, my priority for our party has always been ensuring a strong voice for our young and diverse membership.
As a key worker throughout coronavirus, I know that young people are bearing the brunt of this crisis. If elected my first priority would be to work with our trade union comrades to recruit more young workers to join the trade union movement.
From fighting for climate justice to standing in solidarity with the fight against institutional racism and ending Universal Credit, a well funded and revitalised Young Labour has never been needed more.
It would be amazing to have your support.
I'm delighted to have the support of 3 Trade Unions and 7 Socialist Societies, as well as young members from across our movement.
By speaking to Young Labour groups across our nations and regions and through receiving open submissions on my website, I’ve built a comprehensive - and radical - plan for the next two years and beyond for Young Labour, and our Labour Party. I hope these policies we have created together help you to see the great potential Young Labour has as I do. I am looking forward to hearing more from you over the election period, and remember to vote for Kira Lewis between 19th October - 12 November 2020 to be your next NEC Youth Rep.
